We hope you're having a wonderful month, teachers! In February, we've made some updates to your Freckle account to help you differentiate instruction more accurately for each of your students.

Selecting subjects for independent practice

When you create a new class, you can now pick which subjects students can access in Freckle for independent practice. This will help you keep your students on task and focused on the right subject during class time. You'll still be able to assign practice to students in the other subjects.

No more Math or ELA pre-tests for Kindergarten

Now, instead of starting with a diagnostic pre-test in Math and ELA, all K students will start at Level 1 in each Math domain and the Early Reader level in ELA. As always, students will grow at their own pace and move up to the next level after they have mastered the level they're currently at.

This is intended to improve level accuracy for younger students and prevent them from accidentally being placed in a level that's too advanced.

New Jersey ELA standards

Freckle is now aligned to New Jersey's ELA Student Learning Standards! To change your ELA or Math system, simply visit the Settings page in your teacher dashboard.

Operations & Algebraic Thinking hints

When students answer a question incorrectly in the Operations & Algebraic Thinking domain, they'll now see a hint to help them remember how to arrive at the correct answer. The hints usually consist of text and an image, and they are displayed the first time students answer a question incorrectly.

State-specific standards for ELA Groups Report

ELA Groups Report now shows you your own state's standards and domains, if your state's ELA standards are available in Freckle. Use this report to sort your students into same-level groups for centers or small group activities!

Growth reports for administrators

Administrators now have access to a new Math Growth Report in the Freckle admin dashboard. We hope this report will help teachers and administrators collaborate to help every student grow!
