Summer is time for vacation, relaxation, and play—but it can also be a great time to learn and grow! Many of our teachers give their students the option to practice their Math and ELA skills over the summer with Freckle. We’d like to share some great suggestions from teachers who incentivize students with a fun summer challenge!
Some teachers give prizes to students or track participation for their classroom board in the fall. Here are some ideas for awarding prizes and keeping a leaderboard:
- The student who practices Adaptive Math or ELA Skills Practice the most frequently
- The student who gains the most levels in Adaptive Math or ELA Skills Practice
- The student who earns the most coins
- Every student who practices for 30 minutes a week
If you and your students would like to participate, you can print this calendar so students can keep track of their practice over the summer.
Have students take it home and write down what they practiced (Math or ELA). They can also (optionally) write down their accuracy percentage, which they'll find on the summary screen after they complete a practice session.
You can also track student participation on your own in your teacher dashboard. Simply visit your Math Reports, ELA Reports, and Activity Feed to see what your students are practicing and how they’re doing over the summer. That way, you don’t have to rely on students to remember their calendars!
Student login information stays the same over the summer, so students can practice as much as they want. We hope you and your students have a fun-filled summer!
