Feature Friday: Student Dashboard Redesign

Posted by Amy Klazkin on May 19, 2016 at 6:17 PM

Front Row Teachers - you probably noticed that we redesigned the Teacher Dashboard a few weeks ago -- We’ve heard tons of great feedback about the new design. Now, we have an equally as awesome new Student Dashboard for your kiddos to enjoy! In designing the new Student Dashboard, our goals were to create a more engaging home screen that is easier for students to explore. It has all the same functionality as the old dashboard, just with a new and improved design. When your students log onto Front Row next week, be sure to take a peak!

What to look for:

  • Better flow, making it easier for students to navigate the program
  • The ability to navigate between Math, ELA, and the Leaderboard on the bottom
  • Differentiation in design for younger and older students
  • Better placement of Fact Practice
  • New level mastery progress bar on domain maps
  • Clearer progress bar during math sessions

The new Math home screen: Students can choose to practice on their own on the left-hand side by clicking "Practice" and choosing a domain. On the right-hand side, they will see the most recent assignment from their teacher as well as a link to all assignments sent by their teacher.

All math domains are listed for students, just as they were before. Fact Practice is easier to find -- located at the top of the domains list, under Math Fluency.

Clicking on “All Assignments” will give students a more organized view of all their assignments. Here, you can also see the Middle School design. Older students see a slightly different, less childish design.

Students can now see their progress towards mastery of a level on the each domain map. Students must complete multiple sessions to master a level.

The session progress bar now explicitly tells students how many of the 10 questions they've answered, making it clear how much longer they'll be working. This progress bar says "7 out of 10 questions."

The new Reading/ELA home screen: Students can select an ELA article to read on their own on the left-hand side and can view their reading and writing assignments sent by their teacher on the right-hand side. They can even view assignments that they have already completed, whether they need to revise and edit a writing assignment or reread an article.

The new Leaderboard view allows students to quickly see where they stand in the class in terms of coins earned.

We’d love to hear what your students think of the new Student Dashboard! Tweet at us, post a photo or video, or leave us a comment on Facebook!
