What's new at Freckle May 2019

Congratulations on reaching the end of May, teachers! We know you have worked hard to help your students grow this year, and we're so grateful that you've chosen to use Freckle with your class. As the school year comes to a close, here's the latest Freckle news from the month of May!

Freckle and Renaissance Learning have joined forces

Have you heard the news? Freckle has joined Renaissance Learning to help even more teachers reach every student at their own level.

You can expect everything you love about Freckle—the activities, the curriculum, the student engagement—to stay the same. And, of course, Freckle Free Edition will remain free. You can also expect many things to improve as we work with the Star Assessment, Accelerated Reader, Accelerated Math, and myON teams at Renaissance.

Student dashboard interface updates

All students will now see a more consistent design for the different practice modes in their Freckle dashboards. Students in grades 3 and up will see a Math navigation menu once they select Math from the home page. Additionally, 2nd graders will see ELA Skills instead of Sight Words.

Student math menu screen. Two options: Adaptive Math or Fact Practice.

Assignment page filtering

The student Assignment page is now filtered according to the subjects teachers have enabled. For example, if an ELA teacher disables Math, students can no longer work on their Math teacher's assignments while logged into ELA.

District Benchmark Assessment updates

Teachers using District Benchmark Assessments will now be able to see which students have started, not started, and completed the assessments. On the student side, ELA questions and answers in District Benchmark Assessments now have audio play-along options.

New and improved content for your students

This month, we added 10 new fiction stories, updated over 300 Math and ELA questions to make them clearer, and updated our conceptual videos for consistency. Plus, the ELA Skills practice mode now has 1st grade content in every domain!

Freckle Summer Growth Kit is available

Want your students to keep practicing their skills in Freckle over the summer? Download the Freckle Summer Growth Kit to send home with your students. We hope these free resources help you combat summer learning loss and keep your students engaged with learning over the summer!
